Yoga is a mind-body discipline which can help teens develop self-regulation, mind-body awareness, and physical fitness. When anxiety and depressions are as prevalent as they are, it is so helpful to teach young people how to use their bodies to ground themselves and find a feeling of agency in their lives. Yoga, when taught with attention to the 8 limbs, is an incredibly rich and diverse modality to really engage and empower young people. A regular yoga practice helps teens regulate emotions, feel more confident, manage stress, connect to their bodies in a healthy way, and explore yoga moves to feel healthier.
In this beginner yoga series for teens, they will learn a range of yoga postures, breathing exercises, mindfulness techniques for introspection, and explore yoga ethics which contemplate our connections to ourselves and the world.
